New Bentonite Grinding Plant for LKAB

The Swedish company LKAB awarded a contract to Claudius Peters for the supply of a 30 t/h bentonite grinding plant. The new facility will be located in Luleå, replacing the current facility originally supplied by CP and operated since beginning of the 1970s.

Beside the complete grinding circuit with CP EM73 mill for bentonite, CP supplies pneumatic conveying equipment, pulverized material silos and rail car loading equipment including erection and commissioning services. The bentonite will be sent to Kiruna as binding material for the production of iron ore pellets.

The fully state owned Swedish mining company Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag based in Luleå has been founded in 1890 in Kiruna. LKAB is well known as supplier of highest quality iron ore pellets and fines who is operating one of the largest iron ore mines worldwide in Kiruna, Malmberget and Gällivare north of the Arctic Circle.

Start- up is scheduled for end of October 2015.
